Deborah Millington and Alan Rogerson took over Gilman Wallwork and Tarran and established
Hargreaves Gilman in 2002.
We acquired Carole Bales' practice in 2004.
We acquired Simon Townsend's practice in 2009.
We acquired Mr Peacock's practice, Hargreaves & Co of Withington in 2015.
The latter acquisition is a reunion after 17 years apart - Alan and Deborah were partners in Hargreaves & Co when the two offices in Withington and Didsbury decided to separate in 1998.
Alan has now retired, leaving Deborah as the sole and proud owner of Hargreaves Gilman.
We are Solicitors : Qualified, Professionally Regulated and Fully Insured. We are not Will Writers, a faceless website or a software-managed conveyancing factory based on an industrial estate. We have a physical high street presence with a longstanding tradition of supporting our local community.
A VOIP phone system, Cloud-based storage and early investment in laptops, printers and home-working equipment meant our enforced 'Lockdown' was seamless. We are proud to say we kept operating during lockdown, with homeworking throughout and a skeleton office staff when regulations were relaxed.
During lockdown we modified our meeting rooms to allow segregated consultations in safety. Clients can get documents witnessed (through glass) in complete safety. Reception has also been altered with perspex screens and shielded document scanning facilities. We are constantly reviewing our setup and procedures and will continue to do so for your safety and that of our staff.
We are Authorised and Regulated
by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Our SRA number is 534732
The Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) provides a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practices. Accreditation establishes a level of credibility for firms with stakeholders such as regulators, lenders and insurers as well as residential homebuyers and sellers.
Since its inception in 2011, the CQS has created a trusted community which has helped year on year to deter fraud and continually improve standards across the residential conveyancing sector.
Our IT systems have been stress tested, audited and accredited to CyberEssentials standards to reassure customers that we are working to secure our IT against cyber attack.
Independent auditing confirms the organisation’s cyber security level.
Government contracts require Cyber Essentials certification.
